Hartsfield Jackson International Airport
Contour was proud to provide the construction materials testing services for the build of the Atlanta Traffic Control Tower.
The ATC tower is the most innovative and the tallest ATC tower in North America, and the third tallest in the world. Contour is proud to have been part of the team that completed this state-of-the-art project. The tower shaft is a shell composed of structural precast panels supporting structural steel frame clad with a combination of architectural precast panels and insulated steel panels.
In essence, the tower is the equivalent of an eight-story high-rise building sitting atop a 270-ft shaft that is only 30 sf. The tower had to be designed to meet seismic requirements, and due to its unique shape, it also had to be wind tunnel tested.
Contour provided construction materials testing services for the CONRAC project. The project consisted of the construction of an automated people mover (monorail) and the construction of 4,000,000 sf of parking decks, customer service center, rental car service, and fueling areas. Construction of this project consisted of poured in place, post-tensioned concrete multi-level parking decks and customer service areas resting on deep foundations and spread footings. In addition, Contour provided deep foundation evaluations, analysis and testing, concrete evaluation and testing, reinforcement steel inspections, post-tensioning evaluation and inspections, soil and aggregate testing and analysis, floor flatness testing, footing and subgrade evaluations, and structural steel inspections. We were proud to be part of this construction team, which completed this project on time, under budget and with the praise of the airport’s construction management team, HACM, for a Quality Project.
We provided the construction materials testing services and special inspections for Runway 8R/26L Pavement Replacement at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
This project consisted of complete removal and replacement of the 10,000-ft runway originally constructed in 1969. Contour staffed and provided an on-site laboratory with ACI certified technicians working around the clock. CMT services included 3,000 flexural beam specimens and 500 cylinders along with daily aggregate sieve analysis, compaction testing and drilling over 300 cores through the new 20-in thick concrete pavement.
Contour is proud to have been part of the team that completed this expansive project.
