South Cobb Tunnel
We are proud to have had an integral part in providing construction materials testing services for the South Cobb Tunnel, being noted as the largest capital improvement project in the history of the Cobb County Water System.
The Cobb County Water System's $305M construction contract began in July 2008. The project duration took six years to complete. The South Cobb Tunnel project entailed constructing a six mile, 27-ft excavated diameter tunnel located in hard rock, with depths ranging from 150 to 400 ft. In addition, a total of five connector tunnels were excavated by drill and blast techniques.
Contour provided soils testing, concrete testing, and other materials testing services with our staff of certified technicians.
We are very pleased to have played an important part in this huge milestone.
